Gray's Bidets - Ch. 7
Hello friends!
It's been a few days as I've been drawn to other writing tasks. I was under a deadline to submit some comedy sketches, but now I'm back on task for this book!
I mentioned to my dad yesterday that writing this novel has been more difficult than previous stories because I started with a plot idea, not a character. Normally I'm used to constructing a story around a character and what their biggest challenges might be. This story has taken a roundabout way to that through the idea of a conspiracy theory I found particularly interesting. I made a character through the plot and now I'm going deeper into the character and settling back into my groove of story-constructing. You probably don't care to know all of that, but I find it very helpful to explain my process to myself so I know where to go from here and what to be working on.

Gray's Bidets - Chapter 6
Hey friends!
Woof! So I had eye surgery two days ago and things are healing up quite nicely. I thought I could use the surgery as an excuse to keep from writing for a few more days, but alas, I have no excuse but writer's block. Luckily, I've got a plot outline written out, so things should start coming together.

Gray's Bidets - Chapter 5 (Part Two)
Hello friends!
I think I'm starting to get a feel for how I want this novel to unfold. I've never written a mystery before, and thus, have never had to plan my novels out from start to finish. I've always let them organically happen, and I think that might be my problem. Henry, as a character, can organically unfold on the page any way he will, but the plot needs some direction. And I think I've gotten some.
At any rate, I've finished chapter five. Chapter six will have some more external stimulation, I promise. (:

Finally, I'll be getting eye surgery tomorrow, and while I'd love to continue writing and will try my hardest to make it work, it might throw a wrench in the works if I can't look at my computer screen. We'll see.
Again, thank you all for reading along. I received some genuinely positive feedback from a friend yesterday and it really helped me realize why I like to write. It's to incite something, positive or negative, in people and get them thinking. Get me thinking. I'm grateful to be refreshed to that sentiment now in the early stages of this book.

Friends! Hello! I'm sorry this post is a little late, but I ended up leaving my laptop at the SLC airport. Thankfully, it was found with airport security and my sister emailed my novel drafts so that I could work from my parents' computer here in Oregon. Hooray!

Gray's Bidets - Chapter 1
Hey all! Welcome to my blog for the books I'm writing. I worked on Rae last year on my other blog, but have decided to keep that site separate for my church writing.
This blog will be the start of my new novel, tentatively titled Gray's Bidets. It's a YA novel from the perspective of a fifteen year-old boy with ADHD. The story will dabble in mystery and some form of magical realism, while being tethered to this real, contemporary world.... Unless I go in a completely different direction. How exciting!
I find that when I post my writing, I'm given accountability that keeps me writing. So if you'd like to embark with me in some experimental posts while I get a feel for this narrator, please tune in. I'll try to keep posting every day.
